Paul Baldo Balducci

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, January 4, 2024, Mr. Paul Baldo Balducci, 85, loving husband of 30 years to the late Maria Lydia Balducci de Ortiz.

Paul was a native of Richmond, Virginia and joined the United States Navy at age 17. In 1959 he began a career with the U.S. Post Office and retired after 38 years of service. Paul grew up in the middle of a large Italian family in Richmond, and he loved telling stories from his youth. He was surrounded by aunts, uncles and cousins and was raised by his loving parents Catherine Asher and Umberto Joseph. Until the end of his life, Paul maintained a love of pool, cards, Parodi cigars and time with friends. He enjoyed hanging with his friends at the Rack and Grill, and his Thursday night dinner friends. He hosted a weekly poker game at his home every Friday night. Paul volunteered with Meals on Wheels and as a substitute teacher at the Alleluia School, and was involved in Kairos where he loved sharing about God’s love with prison inmates. He also stayed in close contact with Maria’s family in Mexico and traveled there often over the years.

Family members include his sons: Paul Vincent Balducci (Rachel), John Paul Balducci, and Michael Stephen Balducci (Kelly Harvey); daughters; Tina Plowman (Kip), Maria Hough, Anna Akins (Thomas), and Catherine Balducci; and 16 grandchildren: Paul Ethan, Elliott, Charles, August, Henry, and Isabel Balducci, Lauren Dolan (Franklin), Davis Plowman (Ashley), and Morgan Plowman, Umberto and Lydia Hough, Anna Cecilia, Amelia Claire and Asher Thomas Akins, Sophia Balducci and Jeremiah Balducci; and one great-grandbaby girl arriving in February. He is also survived by his brother Gerald Lee “Nick” Balducci (Mary), and his Balducci and Mardigian cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Umberto Joseph “Sonny” Balducci, III.
