Augusta, GA – Longtime Augusta resident, Paul G. Adams, 65, entered into his eternal heavenly home on July 9, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Paul was the son of the late Col. (Ret) Alvin Adams and Mrs. Ilse Adams. He was born in Germany but moved to the United States soon after where the family settled in Augusta in 1956. He attended school in Richmond County graduating from Butler High School in 1968. He attended Bob Jones University (Greenville) and Augusta College.
Most of Paul’s employment career followed dual careers in radio and firefighting. His major achievements include more than 26 years as a Disc Jockey at WBBQ; A Richmond County Fire Dept. lieutenant; implementing 911 systems for Richmond County as well as Clayton, Pierce, Rockdale, McDuffie and Glascock counties. Paul served on the Associated Public Safety Communication Officer Association (APCO) National 911 Committee, at one time consulting with the New York Police/Fire Depts. on Enhanced 911. Paul was an advisor to the Communications Center at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center and served in numerous elected positions including President of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). In the past 5 years Paul worked in Information Technology (IT), first as a contractor and then with the 7th Signal Command.
Paul is survived by his wife, Barbara Cagle-Adams, his mother, Ilse Adams; a brother Robert (Robb) Adams and his wife, Edra; one sister, Christy Adams Harvey and her husband, Pat; two sons, Steven Paul Adams and Troy Douglas Cagle and his wife, Carla; a daughter, Paula Davis and her husband, Greg; 4 nephews, 2 nieces and 5 grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Monday, July 13 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with the Rev. Ken Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
