Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, May 26, 2023, Mrs. Pauline Joe Holleran, 95.
Pauline Joe Holleran was born in Augusta, GA, the daughter of Bessie Chung Joe and Fong Joe. Pauline is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John T. Holleran. Also preceding her were her parents and siblings; Bessie Chung Joe, Fong Joe, Edward Joe, Albert Joe, William Joe, Frances Joe Hom, Elizabeth Joe, Harry Joe, Ruth Joe Chen, Robert Joe, George Joe and Herbert Joe. Surviving relatives are: stepdaughters Patty (Richard) Charles, Michele (Tom) Bird, grandchildren Russell (Ruth) Jarrett, Taylor (Carter) Bird, Patrick (Andrea) Bird, great-grandchildren Will Jarrett, Adalyn, Grayson and Barrett Bird, and sister-in-law Rosa Wong Joe. She leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She attended Tubman High and the Junior College of Augusta. She graduated from Augusta College with a BBA in management and achieved the highest GPA in her management graduating class. Pauline was employed at the Signal Center Fort Gordon for 35 years. She entered Federal Civil Service as a clerk typist and completed her career as Chief of the Manpower Division of Resource Management at the Signal Center Fort Gordon.
Following her retirement Pauline and John enjoyed life together, traveling, dancing, boating, fishing, golfing, attending Georgia football games and Braves baseball games. Among her other interests were tennis, jogging and volunteer work. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Cultural Center Guild and a member of the University Hospital Volunteer Board where she served on the Gift Shop, Service, Finance and Executive Committees and even served a term as President of the Board in 2015. She served many hours at the information desks and the gift shop. Pauline was a member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served as a eucharistic minister, and together with her husband, John, served as co-chair for the fundraising campaign for the restoration of the Church and also as co-chair for the church fundraiser for the restoration of the cathedral. Following her husband's death in 2009, Pauline was blessed to find comfort and love with her family and friends. Her closest friendships were formed with a special group of widows. Together they enjoyed many evenings at dinner, trips, concerts and shared many laughs along with tears.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 1:00 P.M., followed by a funeral Mass at 2:00 P.M. at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Jacob Almeter celebrant. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Taylor Bird, Patrick Bird, Gary Hom, Chris Joe, Allen Joe, Dennis Joe, Edward Joe, and Russell Jarrett.
