Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, November 29, 2010 at home, Pearl Smith, 90, wife of Mr. H. Grady Smith, Jr.
Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Lowell, Mass. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in WWII. She met her beloved husband while serving at Saufley Field Naval Air Base in Pensacola, Fla. as a Librarian. She was a member of the Rosemary Chapter of Eastern Star, Augusta Women’s Club, Cross Country Garden Club, University Hospital Women’s Volunteer Board, Damascus Baptist Church Ladies Group. She was also a substitute teacher in both Richmond and Columbia Counties.
Family members include: her husband Grady Smith, daughter: Sandra Blanchard (Joe) sons: Grady Smith, III (Cathy), John P. Smith (Denise), sister: Marie Mulligan, the late brothers: David & John Rodrigues, Jr., grandchildren: Lewis Blanchard, Catherine Smith McKnight , Ashley Kelley (John), Grady Blanchard (Jennifer), Tyler Smith, Tanner Smith; great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Clay and Locke McKnight Jr., John Walter, Trudy and Henry Grady Smith Kelley, Emerson Blanchard.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. Pallbearers will be Lewis Blanchard, Grady Blanchard, Tyler Smith, Tanner Smith, John Kelley, Locke McKnight and Seisel Wall III.
