Peggy Starnes McDonald

North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Peggy Starnes McDonald, 93.

Peggy was born in Charleston, SC. She attended Furman University. Peggy was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for grades four and five, sang in the chancel choir, and was a counselor of UMYF. Peggy enjoyed her many trips to Hilton Head Island, as well as crabbing at Folly Beach. She retired from the Medical College of Georgia as the Director of Student Affairs. She loved to play in her yard and grow the most beautiful roses.  

Family members include her children: Donna S. Cawthon (William) of Hilton Head Island, SC., Thomas E. Starnes, Jr. (Jacky) of St. Augustine, FL., Russell B. Starnes (Cindy) of Evans, GA.; grandchildren: Todd Cawthon, Jon Cawthon, Tommy Starnes, Kendall Fielding, Caitlin Penland, Tyler Starnes, and Ryan Starnes; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Ralph T. McDonald; her husband of 44 years, Thomas E. (Bill) Starnes, Sr.; her parents: Russell and Floree Parham; her brother: Bill Parham of Summerville, SC; and her sister: Beverly McKechnie of Island Park, NY.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brandonwilde Pavilion and the nursing staff at Regency Hospice for the kindness and care that they showed Peggy.

A private graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2367 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
