Phillip H. Laird
Hephzibah, GA - Entered into rest Friday, January 18, 2013, Phillip H. Laird, a beloved son, husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather. Family members include his wife: Gloria C. Laird. Children: Phyllis Williamson (Rick), Phillip H. Laird, Jr. (Kellie), Lisa Kendrick (Jimmy), J. Michael Laird (Ronnie). Grandchildren : Trey Kendrick, Kristi Busbia (Jake), Billy Hultman (Heather), Brandy Stephens (Les), Ricky Williamson, Lauren Laird, Brenna Laird, James Laird; Great Grandchilren: Sophia Stephens, Jacob Vance Busbia, Graham Busbia; Sisters: Elizabeth L. O’Connell and Katherine L. Epps; Brothers: John B. Laird Sr. and James A. Laird. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Antonia Laird; brother: Billy Laird and sisters: Josephine Ulm and Patricia Sweeney.
Phillip was born in 1931 and graduated from Boys Catholic High. He was enlisted in the Navy from 1948-1951. He worked many years for Teichman Engineering Company. Phillip traveled all over the world, but always called Hephzibah his home. His last and probably favorite job was running a vegetable stand with his wife Gloria. Although Phillip was born long after the phone was invented; he contributed greatly to its continued success by keeping everyone informed of developing news and tasty recipes. His phone and his newspaper were the tools of his trade and he used them to keep family and friends informed and inspired.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St Mary on the Hill with Fr. Scott Winchel celebrant. Pallbearers will be Larry Bone, Blair Kendrick, Tony Horne, Ben McElreath, William Ulm and Bruce Heidemreich.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project: P.O. Box 31358 Augusta, GA 30903.
