Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, August 28, 2017, Phyllis Spears Holland-Badke, 78.
Phyllis was the second daughter of Chester W. Spears and Bessie Lott Spears. She was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She attended Mt. Saint Joseph School and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a founding member of the women’s group. She was a devout Catholic who visited the Vatican twice. Phyllis and her husband, Ken started Goshen Realty as Broker/Owner in 1987. She was involved in multiple civic organizations, including the Korean EX-POW’s, Goshen Ladies Association and was the first woman in the Augusta AMBUCS. Phyllis loved to travel. Her many trips included going to every state except Hawaii, multiple trips to Europe, Mexico, Canada and South America. Phyllis was blessed with many great friends and she loved them all very much.
Family members include her children: Tammy Holland Hunt (Bill), Bert Charles Holland, Jr.; Trisha Holland Mallis (Chad), Kenny Badke (Janice), Mike Badke (Ann), Jeff Badke (Shirley); brother: Chippy Spears; sister-in-law: Marlene Spears (Jimmy); brother-in-law: Bobby Boysworth (Sandy); grandchildren: Robert Andrew Sprouse, Erica Badke Janostack (Ed), Teresa Badke, (Lee), Joseph Badke (Courtney), Michael Badke, Julianna Badke and Michelle Badke Del Bosque (Joseph); great grandchildren: Vaughn Badke Watts, Christopher Badke, Lily Lambert, Olivia Jackson and Caleb Jackson.
Predeceased by her husbands: Bert Charles Holland, Sr., and Kenneth Karl Badke; grandson: Christopher Badke; sisters: Patsy Murphy and Sandy Boysworth; brother: Jimmy Spears and brother-in-law: Charles A. Murphy.
The family would like to thank special friends of Phyllis’; Jimmy Able, Monique Hielckert, Linda Swan, Rose Walker, Mike and Pam Joyner, and Sister Isabella. We would also like to thank Dr. Paul Cundey III, Dr. Michael Haynes, Dr. Michael Shlaer, Dr. Robert West, and their staff as well as all the wonderful staff at University Hospital for all the love and care they gave to our Mother.

A Memorial Mass will be Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Cushing officiating.
