Augusta, GA. - Pierce Emory Marks III entered into rest on November 23rd at Doctors’ Hospital. Mr. Marks is preceded in death by his parents Pierce Emory Marks, Jr. and Katherine Norvell Marks. He is survived by his wife Catherine Tucker Brooks-Marks and his children with Kathryn Padgett Marks: Derek Fleming Marks, Elizabeth Walcott Marks and William Thomas Marks. Graveside services will be held at Westover Cemetery at 3:00 PM, Monday November 26, 2012, with the Reverend Dr. G. Daniel McCall officiating over the service.

Born February 8, 1957 in Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Marks’ childhood was spent in Augusta and Atlanta before the family settled at their farm in Edgefield, South Carolina. There, Mr. Marks attended Wardlaw Academy before going on to attend Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. At Presbyterian, Mr. Marks was a brother of the school’s Sigma Nu chapter. Upon graduating from Presbyterian College, Mr. Marks proudly served his nation in the United States Army Corp of Engineers.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mr. Marks returned to Augusta, GA to serve as the president of Marks Carbonics for nearly two decades. In line with his entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Marks co-founded Innovative Adhesives, LLC, a promotional products company focused around a patent proudly co-written by Mr. Marks. Through his efforts, Innovative Adhesives broke new ground in both sports marketing products as well as digitally printed camouflage for hunters allowing Mr. Marks to combine his business acumen with his personal passions.

Mr. Marks served his community as Chairman of the Augusta Aviation Commission, events marshal for the Boshear’s Annual Fly-In, and as a member of the Rotary Club. He was recognized by the American Red Cross for volunteer efforts post Hurricane Hugo. Mr. Marks was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, flying, sailing, and golfing at the Augusta Country Club where he was a member.

Mr. Marks is survived by his sister Melinda Marks Murphy, Augusta, GA; nephew Andrew Murphy (Anna), Jacksonville, FL; an uncle J. Fleming Norvell (Sandra), Augusta, GA; an aunt Virginia Marks Hanger and the late Albert Hoover Hanger, Alpharetta, GA. Mr. Marks is also survived by his step-children Jennifer Goad and Chris Nazzrie (Brunswick, GA); Rachel Wehner and Chris Reas(Grayson, GA) and his step-grandchildren Taylor, Wyatt, McKenna, Deven.
