Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, June 25, 2010, Dr. Plummer H. Wynn, 86, husband of the late Opal Ferguson Wynn, beloved wife of 64 years.

Dr. Wynn was a native of Hughes, AR. During WWII he served in the US Navy as a skipper on an LTC in the South Pacific. Dr. Wynn wed Opal Ferguson immediately after serving in the war. He graduated from the University of Tennessee’s School of Dentistry. Dr. Wynn moved and started a private practice in Jackson, MS where he was in private practice for 25 years, then moved to Augusta where he was an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry for 20 years. He enjoyed camping where he could spend time with his wife and family, especially grandchildren. Dr. Wynn enjoyed mentoring young dental students and helping them to establish their own practice. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.


Family members include daughters: Barbara Wynn Blanchard and husband Randy, Beverly Wynn Calvert and husband Craig, sons: Plummer H. (Buddy) Wynn III, Robert T. (Bob) Wynn and wife Holly, grandchildren: Justin Burnett, Jamie Burnett, Jody Burnett, Libby Wynn, Ann Wynn Cox, Carley Wynn Garner, Scott Calvert, Chris Calvert, Lyndsey Calvert, Megan Wynn, and Katie Wynn, great-grandchildren: Samuel Calvert, Luisa Calvert, McKenzie Cox, Joshua Cox, brother: Charles T. Wynn.


Funeral services will be held Monday, June 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in Thomas Poteet and Son Chapel with son, Robert T. (Bob) Wynn officiating. Interment will be held in Westover Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be any past students of Dr. Wynn.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 502 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
