Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Doctors Hospital, Mr. Russell M. “Mike” Malone, age 69.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and a graduate of the Academy of Richmond County. In addition to being an avid Georgia Bulldog supporter, Mike was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and U.S. Marines and served honorably in Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also a member of Pi Kappa Phi national fraternity, the Marine Corps Association, Marine Corps League, American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00 in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Family members include his nieces: Mildred Thomas, Eleanor Sciandra, and Lauren Leys; nephews: James Parker and Dustin Stong; great nephew: Nicholas Rogers; great-nieces: Amber Thomas, Megan Thomas, Alexa Axon, and Aibhlin Parker.
