R. Karey Smith

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024, R. Karey Smith, 64, a longtime Augusta resident.

For many years, Karey proudly worked as a maintenance supervisor with Greenwood, Inc. In his spare time, Karey enjoyed driving his Corvette around town and watching his Georgia Bulldogs dominate college football in the fall. Karey was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Family members include his wife, Cindy Smith, children: Marie Parker (Scott Moody), Mike Greene; Tiffany Greene; and Melissa Gheesling; grandchildren: Maddie Parker, Katie Parker and Ella Moody; Anthony Gomez; Aviana Gary and TJ Gary; loyal canine companions: Buddy and Bella; and brother Kevin Smith. Karey is preceded in death by his parents: Ralph and Glenda Smith; brother: Dwayne Smith; sister: Karen Smith; and beloved dogs: Maxwell, Binx, and Max. 

The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Gibson Branch Cemetery in Edgehill, Georgia.

Memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue of your choice.
