Ralph Paul McLain (Mac), 99, husband of 62 years to the late Norma R. McLain entered into rest on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at The Barclay House in Augusta, GA.
Ralph was born in Ancell, MO, son of the late Paul and Mae McLain. The family included one brother, the late James McLain.
Survivors include one son, and two daughters, Bradley (Amanda) McLain of New London, NC, Kathleen (Robin) Bailie of North Augusta, SC, Jacqueline Geisler (Allan) Vestavia, AL; four grandchildren, Sarah McLain of Davenport IA, David McLain of Durham, NC, Rhonda Morris of Vestavia, AL, Jarrod Morris (Becky) of Mobile, AL; Two great grandchildren, Alison Izaguirre (Miguel) of Pensacola, FL, and Brandon Morris (Jessica) of Mobile, AL; Two great great grandchildren, Stella Izaguirre and Luca Izaguirre of Pensacola, FL.
Ralph joined the Army Air Corp. in 1942 at the age of 17. He served on various heavy bombers during WWII in the European theater. He retired after 24 years of service and worked 20 years in Closed Circuit Training Broadcasting in Nelson Hall at Ft. Gordon. His favorite times involved bowling in which he participated in various bowling events all over the United States. He will always be remembered for being a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a person willing to help people in need.
Ralph’s memorial service will be in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11AM with Dr. Talmadge A. “Joe” Bowden officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.
The family has requested that donations be made to Motts Military Museum, 5075 S. Hamilton Road, Groveport, Ohio 43125-9336.
