Martinez, GA – Mr. Raymond F. Carmody, Sr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, 19 July 2009 at the Charles C. Norwood VA Medical Center with his loving companion for almost 11 years, Doris M. Pilson, by his side. Mr. Carmody was preceded in death by his wife Irene.
He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on 23 January 1927. He was a graduate of Ruetgers University and a graduate of Newark College of Engineering. He served his country in the Navy.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, SC with Military Honors.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 811 Telfair St., Augusta, GA 30901.
Other survivors besides his loving companion, Doris M. Pilson include his son: Raymond F. Carmody, Jr., Waynesboro, PA, son Douglas Carmody (Bonnie) Beaufort, SC, daughter Kathleen Bryson (Jack) Cleveland, TN, daughter Dianne Zeager (Michael) Greenville, SC, daughter Virginia Bassler (Nedley) Greenville, SC; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Irene Schaible (John) Moneta, VA, his special friend Kelly Pilson (Andy) Atlanta and special friend Ingrid Daubner, Germany.
