AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Monday, September 7, 2009, at his residence, Mr. Ray Allen(Mitch) Mitchell, 62, husband of Olivia Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was born Oct. 26, 1946 to Harold and Mary Mitchell. He was the tenth of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Luella Brunner, Evalyn Poff and Delores German and brother Hugh Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell was retired from the US Army after 25 years of service in the Signal Corps.
“Mitch” is survived by his wife Olivia, his son Daniel and his daughter and son-in-law Jonathan and Amanda Metcalfe.
Other surviving family include brother Harold Mitchell and his wife Nancy of Renton, WA; sister Lucille Daniel of Oroville, CA; brother-in-law Keith German of Renton, WA; sister Elaine Winslow and husband Don of Burlington, CO; sister Jacquelyn Varney and husband Don of Maple Valley, WA; sister Jewel Salazar of Visalia, CA and mother-in-law Edna Collis. “Uncle Al” is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Mitchell’s name, 1105 Furys Ferry Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2009, at 4:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M.
