Martinez, GA – Rebecca “Becky” Byce, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Stevens Park Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Heyward Byce, Jr.
Born August 3, 1922 in Greensboro, GA, she was the daughter of the late Horace Hampton “Bud” Channell and Lea Ingram Channell. She was a member of Martinez Baptist Church where she was in the Faith Sunday School Class. She moved to Martinez Baptist Church from Woodlawn Baptist after teaching Primary III Sunday School Class and also teaching in Little Church. Rebecca worked many years at Sears and Lily Tulip Company.
Family members include brother: J.H. Channell (Lois) of Conyers, GA; nephews: Mike Channell, Danny Channell, Chan Cabe, Wesley Byce; niece: Linda Aikens; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: June Cabe and nephew: Walton Cabe.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Phillip Winsett officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Greenview Cemetery in Greensboro, GA.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Stevens Park Health and Rehab for their excellent care that they gave while she was at their facility and the special caregivers that sat with her many hours daily. They would also like to express their gratitude to the many friends that helped Mrs. Byce throughout her life.
