Augusta, GA –Mrs. Rebecca Rheney Hancock Mooney, 57, entered into rest Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was a native of Hephzibah. Rebecca was a graduate of Augusta College and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was employed as a Mortgage Loan Officer at Georgia Bank & Trust Company of Augusta, and was an active member of the Mortgage Bankers’ Association. She was also a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Evans. Rebecca is best known for her innate generosity, and her love of sports, animals, and antiques.

Rebecca is survived by her son: Kenneth Guy Mooney of Augusta, GA; her mother: Eva Mae Rheney Hancock of Martinez, GA; her sister: Mary Carolyn Hancock (Ron) Thigpen of Martinez, GA; her niece Carrie Thigpen (Jamie) Hodge of Evans, GA. She is also survived by her aunt: Mary Rheney Daniels of North Augusta, SC; and her cousins: Rheney Daniels Martin of Columbia, SC, Steve Daniels of North Augusta, SC, Linda Blissit Ritter of Athens,GA, and Kitty Blissit; and other special friends: Freda Baker, Joanne Jones and Regina Jackson. She is preceded in death by her father, James Guy Hancock and her grandparents, Ollie and Weldon Rheney, Gladys and Guy Hancock.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bryan Matthews and Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Hephzibah City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob McElmurray, Earl McElmurray, Jamie Hodge, Steve Daniels, Lee Mooney, and Javier Capriles.

In lieu of flowers if so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia County Humane Society at 6100 Columbia Road, Grovetown, GA or to Columbia County Animal Services at 1940 William Few Parkway, Grovetown, GA 30813.
