Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, January 6, 2015, Mr. Vernon Rees Matthews, Jr. 63, husband of Mrs. Juanita “Sissy” Matthews.
Mr. Matthews was a resident of Augusta. He was a self-employed mechanic. Mr. Matthews enjoyed participating in political campaigns, visiting being with family and friends. Socializing was the biggest part of his personality.
Family members in addition to his wife include a brother: Donald Matthews; mother: Jessie Mae Clark; uncles: Tommy Clark and Barney Clark; aunt: Melissa Workman and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his father: Vernon R. Matthews, Sr.
A funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Dr. Don Prosser officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
