Augusta, GA –. Mr. Rembert Smith, 83, beloved husband of the late Margaret Smith, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
Mr. Smith was a native of Sandersville, GA. He retired from Dupont/SRS after many years of service. Mr. Smith was a member of Fleming Christian Church. He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Elvis Presley. “PaPa” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He never met a stranger and was always quick to share a story. He was loved by all that knew him and will be deeply missed by friends and family.
Family members include daughters: Janice Smith Morris (the late Jerry Morris), Margie Smith Willard (Perry), 7 grandchildren, Melissa Overton, Charlie Morris, Christopher Morris, Melanie Shead, Troy Willard, Scotty Simmons and Tera Easton; 10 great-grandchildren and another great-grandson on the way. He also left behind his two beloved dogs Rocky and Shane. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Smith.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Charlie Morris, Chris Morris, Scotty Simmons, Troy Willard, Don Overton and Roger Shead.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at
