Augusta, GA –SGM James L. Huggins, Sr., U.S. Army (Ret.), 83, peacefully entered into rest Thursday, October 12, 2017.
In 1934, Mr. Huggins was born in Pine Hill, AL to the late Allen and Lottie Huggins. He was a 1952 graduate of Marengo County High School in Thomaston, AL. In 1976, he retired after serving 22 years of service in the United States Army. He was a member of West Acres Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Mason’s, Sojourner’s, and Gideon’s’.
Jim Huggins Sr. was a Viet Nam veteran and culminated his active duty service with the White House Communications Agency in Camp David Maryland and Washington D.C. An active community servant after retirement, he devoted immeasurable time and effort to serving others. A loving husband and father, he will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Family members include his son: Lieutenant General Jim Huggins, Jr. (Ret.) and his wife Melissa; step-son: Jeff Nall and his wife Laura; three grandchildren and four step grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Tada Naruse Huggins, also by his second wife of 15 years, Joann Bridges Huggins, and by his step-son Randy Nall.
A memorial service and internment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Once the date has been finalized, family and friends will be notified.
