Reverend Deacon Robert Earl Pride

Augusta, GA- Robert Earl Pride, beloved husband of Carol Pride, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 10, 2011. His wife and their six children were the joy of his heart. He is survived by daughter Lara Pride Gordon and sons Joseph, Joshua, James, John and Jacob Pride. He was the oldest son of 10 children born to Stella Eugenie Pride and the late Earl D. Pride of Ft. Worth, Texas. Besides his mother, wife and children, he is also survived by 8 brothers: Bill, Michael, Pat, Christopher, Edward, Charles, Anthony and Stephen, 1 sister, Jean Marie Pride Byers and 13 grandchildren.

Robert felt his greatest accomplishment was being ordained a Deacon for St. Ignatius of Antioch Melkite Rite Catholic Church in 2006. He has been a member of the Alleluia Community since 1979 when he moved to Augusta from San Antonio, Texas. He worked at the Savannah River Site in Environmental Restoration and Training from 1990 – 2008 and was a special education teacher for the deaf at Josey High School in Augusta and Allen Poe Middle School in San Antonio prior to that.

A native of Ft. Worth, Texas, he graduated from Our Lady of Victory Catholic High School in Ft. Worth and received a B.A. in Fine Arts from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and a Masters in Education from Augusta State University, Augusta, Georgia.

A wake will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday September 13 at 2329 Norton Dr. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday September 14 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial following after service.
