Rev. Ronald K. Newberry

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, December 25, 2021, Rev. Ronald Kenneth Newberry, 82, loving husband of Winifred J. Newberry.

Ron was a native of Acworth, Ga. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Mercer University. He enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War and served for 2 years. He was of the Baptist faith, was a graduate of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and served as pastor of a number of churches, most recently at Ways Baptist Church in Stellaville, GA. He loved antiques, the Braves and the Bulldogs. Ron enjoyed selling and dealing in sports cards, collectibles and antiques at his booth in the South Augusta Flea Market.

The family would like to thank the staff at Azalea Heath and Rehab for all of their loving care the past two years.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his son: Ronald Kenneth Newberry, Jr.; daughter: Lorilee Newberry Austin (Daniel); grandsons: Knowle Austin, Korey Austin (Britton), Chad Austin (Samantha), and Will Austin; and sister: Sandra Teague (Gene).

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Don Prosser officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
