Rex Broadwater
Hephzibah, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, November 19th, 2022. Mr. Rex Broadwater, 66, loving husband of 43 years to Mrs. Edita Perea Broadwater.
Rex was born and raised in Jefferson, Pennsylvania until he enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. He served his country honorably with the love and support of friends and family back home while he went on three separate tours overseas, two to Korea and one to Panama, where he met the love of his life, Edita Broadwater. Rex served under active duty for five years and six months, from February 1978 to August 1983, and inactive reserves from August 1983 to February 1986. He was awarded the rank of Sergeant during his inactive reserve time. During the time of his active service, he was awarded various medals and awards, including: Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), Overseas Service Ribbon w/ two bronze stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, and Expert Rifle badge.
His hobbies included fishing, constantly toying with his vehicles; doing his upmost to keep them in the best shape as possible, repairing and putting together computers, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
Family members in addition to his wife Edita include his daughter: Anita Broadwater Hicks (James; son: Brian Kersey (Cheyenne); grandchildren: Sutton Hicks, Christian Hicks and Waylon Kersey; brothers: Allen Broadwater, Roger Broadwater (Pam) and Keith Broadwater; and sister: Jane Headley (Joel). He is preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth and Minda Broadwater; brother: Robert Broadwater (Marie) and sister: Elizabeth Broadwater; and son: Joel Broadwater.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 10th, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Sons with Rev. Michael Fogarty officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
