Richard L. Lynch, Sr.
Augusta, GA - Richard L. Lynch Sr., 91, of Augusta (formerly Atlanta) passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia on June 28, 1925 and served his country as a U.S. Navy submariner in the Pacific in World War II. Steadfastly devoted to his country and his family, he was the loving husband of the late Betty Moore Lynch for 67 years. He worked for 40 years in the men’s apparel business.
Richard earned the respect of all who knew him by living each day with a positive spirit and gratitude for all of his life’s blessings. He was a loyal friend to many, and his character, integrity, and good humor will be missed by all.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Betty and his sister Jean Ferrier. He is survived by three children, Marsha White (Greg) of Augusta, Dick Lynch (Marsha) of Marion, Iowa, and Pat McNeill (Tom) of Atlanta; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Patsy L. Shelor; and Richard Weaver, a beloved best friend for more than 80 years.
Donations may be made to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, or a charity of your choice.
A private interment will follow at a later date.
