Richard Paul Matthews, age 63 of Evans, GA, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2021. Rick is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Charlene Matthews; children Nicole (Kevin) Muns, Lindsey (Kris) Solomon; siblings Randy Matthews, Mike Evans, Veronica Evans, Roger Matthews, and Samantha Bridges; grandchildren Kenya, Aubrey, Sadie, Addie, and Lydia, along with many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Matthews, Jane Evans, and Ed Evans, and brother Ronnie Matthews.

Rick was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Rick also received a bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. Rick was an employee at Lockheed, Northern Engraving, and then became an entrepreneur. Before moving to Evans, Rick attended Bascomb United Methodist Church in Woodstock, GA, where he had many friends who held him dear. He enjoyed studying the Bible, spending time with family, and good BBQ. Rick will be remembered for his positive outlook on life and his devotion to his family and will be greatly missed.

The Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Rick Matthews will be held on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 am at Wesley United Methodist Church Evans located at 825 Belair Rd, Evans GA 30809. The service will be held in the Memorial Garden (weather pending) with Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. You are invited to wear Rick’s favorite color, blue.
