Richard A. Moyer

Entered into rest on Sunday, January 5, 2025, Richard (Dick) Angstadt Moyer, 93, husband for sixty-nine years to Bobbie Turner Moyer.

Dick was a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of Lehigh University. He was hired in June 1953 by DuPont at the Savannah River Plant and retired in 1989. For several years after retirement, he was employed at Bedford Greenhouses sharing his knowledge and love of plants. Dick's yard and gardens were his special passions which he shared with friends and neighbors. They also came to his workshop for his advice and tools. He volunteered for many civic, church and school activities. 

Dick and Bobbie were participating members of several square and line dance clubs for many years. Dick was a member of Curtis Baptist Church and served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Music was very special to him. Dick was a loving Grandy to his children, grandchildren and other bonus children.

Family members in addition to his wife, include his daughter, Susan of Augusta; son, Richard, Jr. (Ginny) of Castlewood, VA; granddaughters, Lauren Osborn of Studio City, CA; Sarah Osborn of Augusta; Rebecca Moyer Kling of Abingdon, VA; Joanna Moyer Morrison of Grand Junction, CO; Christina Moyer and Melissa Moyer of Castlewood; grandsons, Richard Moyer III of Boston, MA; and Timothy Moyer of Castlewood, great grandchildren, Jessie Kling of Abingdon, VA; Zipporah and Eugene Morrison of Grand Junction, CO, sister, Shirley Moyer of Coopersburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edna Moyer and his brother, Carl Moyer. 

The memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Bishop Carolyn Moore and Rev. Mark Sterling officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
