Richard E. Schultz
“Dick”

Augusta, GA – Richard E. Schultz, known as “Dick”, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the age of 80.

Dick was the loving husband of Linda Ling Schultz, also survived by his sister Betty, and family, several brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews. Also two sons Tim and Kelly in California.

Dick was born and raised in Norristown, PA. He joined the USAF in 1961 and was in security and law enforcement for his entire career. He played tennis in USAF Europe, tennis tournaments in Garmisch, Germany in three different decades 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. He was fortunate enough to play on courts in Wimbledon.

One of the highlights of his later career was a flight on an F-15 Fighter Jet from Germany to Italy, which he was awarded for having the top training section in all of Europe.

Dick and Linda felt blessed with all of the assignments they received in his career, with the 4 years in Germany at Bitburg Air Base in the Eiffel Mountains being the best. In 1983 Dick was one of the few Security Police chosen to be on the Inspector General Team for the then newly formed Space Command out of Colorado Springs. Following retirement, he worked for Wackenhut Services Inc. for 17 years in the training and compliance division at the Savannah River Site in Aiken, SC.

His wife Linda was the joy and love of his life and he was hers for 50 years. He dearly loved the AF and Linda would tease him and say “The AF was number 1 and she was number 2” and Dick would say “Well, not all the time.”

He was an active member of the Geezers Golf Group at Forest Hills Golf Club. Dick and Linda Traveled and enjoyed the beach at Pawleys Island and Litchfield in SC.

Dick will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and very quick wit.

At Dick’s request there will be no public service.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Dick is invited to make a donation to Tunnel to Towers, T2T.org.
