Augusta, GA—Entered into rest on Saturday, December 18, 2021, Richard Cook Weatherford, 81, was the loving husband of Carmen Hester Weatherford for 59 years.
Richard was born and raised in Gallatin, TN where he graduated from Gallatin High School and went on to graduate from Tennessee Tech University with a degree in biology and chemistry. Richard worked for many years as a plant manager and supervisor at a number of corporations including Kendall Corporation in Augusta and Shaw Industries in Thomson, Georgia.
Richard had a gift for telling stories and never met a stranger. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed working on projects around the house, fixing anything that was broken and spending time going for walks and enjoying a great sunset. He felt most at home anytime he was around water, walking on his land in Gallatin and when he was surrounded by his family.
Family members include his daughter Leigh Hite (Mark): son Richard Weatherford Jr.; and daughter Amy Ristroph (Mark); sister Judy Wilson of Gallatin, TN and eight grandchildren: Blanding Hite (Katie), Taylor Hite; Devan Weatherford (Raela), Hannah Weatherford; Ian Ristroph, Palmer Ristroph, Maggie Ristroph, Allie Ristroph. He also has two nephews: Chad Wilson, and Ty Wilson (Shannon) and one niece Keisha Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Wilson Weatherford and Winnie Cook Weatherford both of Gallatin, Tennessee.
There will be a private graveside service in Gallatin, Tennessee at a date yet to be determined.
