Robert A. “Bob” Williams
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, September 13, 2013 at Georgia Regents Medical Center, Robert A. “Bob” Williams, 86.
A native of Monroe, NC, Mr. Williams graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1949 and was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity in Chapel Hill, NC. Additionally, he was also a member of the Elks Lodge #255 BPOE, the Irish American Heritage Society, Patrick Walsh Council #677 Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Knight Assembly #174 and Color Guard, and the Pinnacle Club. He was a licensed pilot and a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Coast Guard. Bob was the founder of Tire Town in 1952, which is still open and run by his nephew.
He is survived by Mary Williams, to whom he was married for 32 years and his nephew: Christopher E. Hiers.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Gerald Ragan officiating. Interment will be held at Westover Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, 1420 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904, or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will visit with friends at the church, beginning at 10:30 AM on Monday.
