AUGUSTA, Ga. – Entered into rest Thursday, November 5, 2009, at University Hospital, Mr. Robert Aubrey French, 78, husband of Jane Springer French. He was the son of Aubrey and Mauveline Simpson French.
Mr. French was a native of Byhalia, Mississippi but had resided in the Augusta area for over 40 years. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was employed for 40 years at Proctor & Gamble. Mr. French was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, chairman of the Building Committee of the Sanctuary, Sunday School teacher, numerous church committees and delegate to the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Augusta Country Club.
Family members in addition to his wife include his children: Randall Edwin French (Loriene), Robert Dennis French (Diane), Janet French McKnight (Will), David Aubrey French (Cathy), Barry Michael French(Sandi); grandchildren: Dallas Nicole French, Daniel Nichols French, Jennifer Renee French, Jane Marie McKnight Kinsey(Joe), Blakely French McKnight, Aubrey Davis McKnight, Dowtin Kennedy McKnight, Robert Chandler French, Catherine Scott French, Aubrey Elizabeth French, Madison Elaine French, Carlton Jane French, Robert Anderson French, and Michael Christian French; sisters: Billie French Horton of Ft. Worth, TX, Joan French McKay of Memphis, TN; cousins: RubyAnn and Richard Williams of Harrison, AK, Ted French, Mark French, Austin French, and Nick French.
Bob was known for his positive outlook and quick wit; he was a patient and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His recreational passions included golf, snow skiing, and horseback riding with his grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver Teresa Moffett, Dr. Rychly and the staff at Brandon Wilde, and Trinity Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. John Pinson and Dr. Harvey West officiating. Burial will be private. Pallbearers will be his four grandsons and Bobby Jones, Bobby Bryant, David E. Beaudreau DDS, and James E. Wicker. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Jane Mitchell Sunday School Class.
