Robert Edwin Alger died at home in Augusta. Georgia, on November 8, 2022. He was 78 years old. Robert was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on July 19, 1944. He graduated from Tufts University with degrees in physics and mathematics and Stevens Institute of Technology with a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Operations Research. He worked as a contractor for the Defense Department for 20 years for several companies, including as a Vice President of Teledyne-Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Alabama, and then as an Advanced Projects engineer for Savannah River Site until his retirement in 2005. Robert was active in ministry at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Augusta and a Knight of Columbus. He was also a Full Covenant member of Alleluia Community. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Alice O’Connor Alger and nine children, 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Augusta at 10 am on Saturday, November 12 with burial following at Alleluia Community Cemetery in Dearing, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at Alleluia Community Gym on Sunday, November 13.
