Robert B. Anderson

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Mr. Robert “Bob” Anderson, 94, loving husband of Mrs. Caroline Courson Anderson. 

Bob Anderson was a native of Augusta, Georgia. After attending high school at Richmond Academy, Bob earned his college degree from Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. After college Bob served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. As a lifelong and devoted member of Trinity-On-The-Hill Methodist Church, Bob was able to celebrate many important milestones with his church family, including his baptism and meeting his beloved Caroline. For many years, Bob and Caroline taught Sunday school together and were members of the Adult Couples & Singles Sunday School Class. He served as the group’s vice president. Bob also enjoyed his roles as a lay minister and usher, the latter of which allowed him to share a special friendship with Keith Peeples. In addition, he spent time as a volunteer with the pie ministry and served at the soup kitchen as well. After leaving his sales position with PYA/Monarch, Bob decided he was not suited for retirement and returned to work part-time at Lynndale, where he impacted the lives of countless individuals living with disabilities. Bob was a good Christian man who embodied so many admirable qualities. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was also a trusted mentor and friend.

Exercise was very important to Bob. In his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis, walking, swimming, and bicycling. His family credits his longevity to this healthy lifestyle.

Bob’s family would like to give special thanks and love to Hazel Slayton, a devoted caregiver who has become a part of the family. Additionally, to the staff and nurses of Crescent Hospice, and lastly to many loyal friends and neighbors.

Survivors in addition to his wife, include his daughters: Mary Anderson Rogers (Rick) and Melanie Anderson Fealko (Brian); grandchildren: Rich Rogers (Stephanie), Robert Brian Fealko (Caty) and Steven Landon Fealko (Whitney); great grandchildren: Robert Brian “Bert” Fealko, Jr., Evelyn Claire Fealko, Amelia Rose “Millie” Fealko, Jacob Anderson Rogers and Charlotte Elaine Rogers; brothers-in-law: Jim Courson (Louise) and John Courson (Lisa) and other loving family members. 

The family will receive friends at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors on Tuesday, September 17th at 2:00 P.M., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 P.M.  in the chapel with Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be Rick Rogers, Rich Rogers, Brian Fealko, Robert Fealko, Steven Fealko and Bert Fealko and honorary pallbearer will be Keith Peeples.
