Robert "Bobby" E. Cave Sr.

December 5, 1941 — December 9, 2022

Robert "Bobby" E. Cave Sr.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Friday, December 9, 2022, Robert Ernest Cave, Sr., 81.

Bobby was a native of Columbus, GA. He owned and operated Austin Ornamental Iron. Bobby loved to work; it was more of a hobby for him rather than a job. He was an artist with metal and was very passionate about what he did. Customers would always ask if there were other color options with the iron work and he would answer with a quote from Henry Ford, “You can get any color you want as long as it’s black”. Unfortunately, Bobby was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, then later came dementia. Even with those diseases he continued to work until he could no longer. In his free time, Bobby loved to watch Georgia Football, visit the lake, and travel to Yamassee, SC. He was a true friend to all and always encouraged his children to be kind to everyone. Bobby claimed his family’s friends as his own and had the patience of a saint. He would give to anyone and everyone even if it meant he would have nothing left; Bobby was a truly selfless person. He was always very respectful towards women and was known to be a true southern gentleman. Bobby’s friends would say he was “too good for his own good”. His joy filled the room, his love was undeniable, he was genuine, and he was real and he will never be forgotten.

Family members include his four children: Shelly Coleman, Robert E. Cave, II “Bubba”, Keith Cave (Melissa), and Amber Newman (Brian); eleven grandchildren: Devin Brown (Nick), Bailey Brown (Tommy), Hunter Coleman, Brooke Stowers (Justin), Rita Duncan (TJ), Caroline Cave, Ellie Parks Cave, Maggie Cave, Hank Cave, Piper Newman, and Sawyer Newman; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Harrington Park and Affinis Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to Bobby.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Warren Baptist Church with Pastor Joseph Humphreys officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
