Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, April 16, 2015, Mr. Robert Bruce “Bob” “Sarge” Carstarphen, 89, husband of 66 years to the late Mrs. Wanda Carstarphen.

Mr. Carstarphen was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army 94th Infantry Division during World War II and was on the battlefield 309 days in a row and was awarded two Bronze Stars and The Combat Infantry Badge. He was Commando in the Battle of Buldge and later a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Carstarphen was the owner and president of Carstarphen Enterprises, Inc.

Family members include son: Robert Bruce Carstarphen, Jr. of Augusta; brother-in-law: James C. Clark; nephews and nieces: Thomas Jefferson Carstarphen of Augusta, Frank Sherling Carstarphen (Linda) of Evans, Eddie Clark (Peggy) of Hephzibah, Charlotte Ruth Cash of Evans, Tom Hunter of Augusta, Robert Hunter of Atlanta, Mildred Lee Hunter of Columbia, SC, Lee Bruker of Augusta, Glenn Bruker of Augusta, Bonnie Bruker of Augusta, Kerry Bruker of Augusta, Frank Wilson of Atlanta, and Clyde Wilson of Augusta; and cousin: Beverly Jo Petty.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, April 20, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Lou Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park with Military Honors.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff of MSA Hospice and ResCare Home Care for their outstanding care.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church at 1420 Monte Sano Avenue, Augusta, GA 30904.
