Robert Deshler

Martinez, GA – Entered into rest on September 13, 2011 at his residence, Col. (Ret.) Robert C. Deshler, husband of 45 years to Norma Gail Siler Deshler of Martinez. Other family member include their daughters: Judith A. Deshler Shaw, Mary A. Deshler Daniels and her husband John Lyle Daniels; grandchildren: Ashley Lauren Shaw, Taylor Nicole Shaw, Brandon Charles Shaw, John Thomas Daniels and John Lucas Daniels; brother: Capt. William Albert Deshler, U.S. Navy retired. Col. Deshler was born in Brooklyn but grew up in Merrick, NY. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired with 30 years of service to his country. He was awarded numerous medals including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, one with Valor, and the Legion of Merit.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michaels Chapel at Fort Gordon. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.

In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2807 Washington Rd., Suite B #146, Augusta, GA 30909 or to the Putnam County Family YMCA, 235 Raider Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.
