Mr. Robert H. “Bobby” Jones
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 3, 2011, Mr. Robert H. “Bobby” Jones, 80, husband of Billie Cumbee Jones.
Mr. Jones was a native of Lincolnton, GA, but resided in Augusta most of his life. He was a member of Warren Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Usher, General Sunday School Secretary for 35 years and was a member of the Snyder Sunday School Class. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Martinez Masonic Lodge #710 F & AM and Scottish Rite. Mr. Jones worked 30 years with Plunkett Heating & Air and Gold Mech. He retired to help his daughter at Acute Care Veterinary Clinic, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Bob”.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Sheila J. Thigpen (Michael) of Ninety Six, SC, Debra J. Saul, DVM (Bruce) of Evans; son, Robert H. Jones, Jr. (Leta) of Evans; six grandchildren: Matthew Thigpen (Lauren), Lauren Fortner (Brian), Michael Saul, Daniel Jones, Keri Jones, Jonathan Saul; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Thigpen.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Jones’ caregivers: Lula Edwards, Ricky Edwards, Diane Bennett, and the Palliative Care Nursing Staff at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Warren Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Brett Legg and Emily Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Dunevent, Don Turley, Ricky Edwards, Sam Jones, Sonny Jones, and James Paschal. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Snyder Sunday School Class and The Shade Tree A’s Model A Club.
