Robert Joseph Mazur (Joey) passed away on June 26, 2024, at Augusta University Hospital surrounded by his family.
Joey was preceded in death by his sister, Holly Marie Mazur, his grandfather, Roger Duane Ratcliff, his bonus grandfather, Pat Leeking and his aunt, Sherry Greaves.
He is survived by his mother Sharon Thornton, his bonus father David Thornton, bonus siblings Amanda Thornton, David Thornton Jr, Caroline (Chaston) Weaver, his grandmothers Sue Leeking and Claudia Ratcliff, his aunt Karen (Mark) Boswell, his uncle Chris (Beth) Ratcliff, his aunt Lori (Gil) Smith, cousins Cody (Therese) Boswell, Austin Boswell, Maddie Ratcliff, James Ratcliff, Emma Ratcliff and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joey was a paint contractor by trade and worked at various apartment communities and for Realtors in the Augusta area. He got his start in the business with Kenny and Michelle Johnson, who were his greatest mentors and treated him as if he were family.
Joey loved fishing, hunting and going to the gym. His grandfather, Duane Ratcliff, instilled the love of fishing and hunting in him from a very young age. He shot his first deer in Jefferson County with his papaw, who couldn’t have been prouder of the 14 pointer he got that day! When he was a young boy, he fished every single day in the pond that was on the property he lived at back then.
Joey was a very sensitive young man and when he loved you, he loved you hard. Joey was loved more than he ever really knew, and will be missed deeply by so many, especially his mother.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors with Chaplain Robert Knox, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away”. Revelation 21:4
