Augusta, GA – Robert P. Wipf, 74, who was a retired CSM, went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on October 3, 2011 at Doctor’s Hospital.
Robert was a native of Huron, South Dakota and has been an Augusta, GA resident for 49 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
Robert was a very strong family man. He loved his children, adored his 2 granddaughters, and was a devoted husband to his wife. Robert proudly served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and served over 30 years in the Georgia National Guard Local 878th and retired out of the 265th in Marietta. He was also retired from civil service at Fort Gordon Signal School. After Retirement, Robert worked as a substitute teacher for Columbia County Schools and as a greeter at Wal-Mart. In his spare time he repaired lawn mowers and any lawn equipment. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Geri M. Wipf of 55 years, his daughters, Dorinda Wipf and Lori Wipf Kitchens (Kenneth),; son: Kevin P. Wipf; two granddaughters, Lauren Kitchens Tice (Timothy) and Amber Renee Kitchens, and a sister, Kathryn Wipf Brodersen of Elk Point, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Pastor Dave Willis officiating. Internment will follow Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 265th and 878th National Guard.
