Robert Pendergraft

Robert Glenn Pendergraft, 71, entered into rest on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family after a 3-year illness.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Chaplain Bob Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the funeral home.  

Mr. Pendergraft was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma to the late Harold and Jean Pendergraft. Mr. Pendergraft worked various construction jobs before moving to Georgia where he worked at Plant Vogtle for 25 years. He worked in the both the construction phase and the start up and operation of the plant.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Beth Murray Pendergraft and his daughters Lauren Murray O’Neil (Ryan) and Julie Murray Chapman (Tanner). He was Papa to five grandchildren; Adalee, Amelia, and Ashton O’Neil and Ruby and Bryson Chapman. They were the joy of his life and the reason he got up every morning. He is also survived by his sister Paula Batchelor, his brothers Tim and Tony McCarley and his step-mother Ophelia Pendergraft. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Mike Pendergraft.

He was a faithful Oklahoma Sooners fan and was looking forward to them joining the Southeast Conference. His hobby was adopting and spoiling dogs. Throughout his life he adopted numerous dogs. He leaves behind his latest devoted friend, Dallas.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you donate to the American Lung Association for Lung Cancer research or to your favorite local animal shelter.
