Robert Clifton Sarver
U.S. Army retired.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, May 8, 2010 at his residence, Mr. Robert C. “Pop” Sarver, 91, husband of the late Iris Sarver.
Mr. Robert Sarver was a native of West Virginia, but resided in the Appling area for the last 45 years. He enlisted in the United States Army at a very young age, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He retired after 23 years at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He worked at Little River Sportsman Camp with Rosenell and Tommy Shaw for 20 years. Mr. Sarver was an active member of Damascus Baptist Church for 35 years, where he served the Lord as a Deacon, sang in the church choir, and was a member of the Men’s Sunday school class. He was a very loving husband, father, and Grandpop.
Family members include: daughters: Sonora Jenkins and her husband William of Appling, GA, Irena Watkins and her husband Steve of Appling, GA, grandchildren: Bob Jenkins, Ben McTier, Tom Jenkins, and Sharla Teague, two great granddaughters, and one great great granddaughter; brothers: William Norman Sarver, Charles Ross Sarver, Noah Lee Sarver, sisters: Elsie May Brinegar, Shelby Bunch. Mr. Sarver was preceded in death by his son, the late Howard Hoover and brother, the late Theodore Thomas Sarver.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Hester, and Rev. Jerry Owens officiating. Pallbearers will be: Ben McTier, Tommy Jenkins, Bob Jenkins, Joey Johnson, Allen Amerson, Charles Fuller, Mark Teague, and Tim Powell. Interment will be at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
