Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday August 10, 2009, Mr. Robert V. Baxter, 83, husband of Mary Evelyn Izlar Baxter.

Mr. Baxter was a native of and grew up in Lee County, AL but resided in Augusta for the past 58 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and retired from E. I. DuPont after 36 years. Mr. Baxter was a member and very active in St. James United Methodist Church, which he loved. He was a member of the Carpenters Local #283, the Chatter Box Club and was a fan of the Auburn Tigers and the Atlanta Braves.

Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Melinda Allmon and husband Mike of Gloucester, VA, Carole Curtis and husband Todd of North Augusta, SC; sons: Robert (Bobby) V. Baxter, Jr. and wife Lisa of Augusta, William (Billy) Baxter and wife Suzanne of North Augusta, SC; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and sister: Nannelle Olbon of Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Burchall officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard Swann, Joseph Olbon, Floyd Baxter, Herbert Salens, Kyle Baxter, Mike Layman and Kris Kennedy. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 439 Greene St., Augusta, GA 30901.
