Robert S. Vernoy

“To the world Bobby might have been one person but to his family he was our WORLD.”

Robert Scott Vernoy entered into rest on Monday, December 9, 2024. He was a loving and devoted husband of 55 years to Angela Stewart Vernoy, a proud devoted father to two beautiful daughters, Lauren Stewart (James) and Morgan Leigh Vernoy (Jason) and grandsons, Jacob Scott Stickney and Jackson Skyler Stickney.

Bobby was born April 13,1946 in Anderson, South Carolina to the late George Addison Vernoy and Edythe Griffith Vernoy, He was preceded in death by his brother, John David Vernoy. He has two surviving sisters, Caro Hayes (Mel) and Katherine Nowak (Bruce).

Bobby attended T.L. Hanna High School and was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. Following basic training he was deployed to Bien Hoa Vietnam Air Base and served as a Corporal E4 Helicopter Door Gunner and Squad leader.

Bobby was honored with several medals, as well as The Air Medal for Meritorious Achievement while participating in Aerial Flights. He served in Vietnam for 18 months and received Honorable Discharge on May 9,1972.

After leaving the Army he joined Davis Electrical and subsequently joined Flour Daniel in 1968 as a Project Engineer, Engineering Manager and Project Manager on numerous projects in the United States and Canada. He left Flour in 1998 to join Lockwood Greene/ CH2M Hill in the Engineering and Construction division. During his work history he was involved in projects as Construction Manager in the United States which took him to Germany and Afghanistan. He served 44 years in the Engineering and Construction Industry, retiring in 2012.

He and Angela are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church where Bobby was honored to serve as an Elder. This position was a precious gift to him to serve our Lord.

To know Bobby was to love and respect him. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help others. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. Bobby and Angela enjoyed being with their families.

I would like to especially thank Josh, his Trinity Hospice nurse who gave him professional and loving care. In a short time, they communicated like a father and son about fishing, hunting and life in general. Bobby respected and grew to care for Josh. We pray for God’s blessing on his life. Thank you, Josh.,

Also, the physicians and nurses at Doctors Hospital for making our stay so comfortable and sharing their humor and love.

The Prayer team at Covenant Presbyterian Church and Trinity Methodist Church were real prayer warriors for Bobby for which we are thankful.

have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH.
