PNCM Robert Lee Wilkie, US Navy (Ret)

Martinez, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, February 20, 2018, PNCM (Ret) Robert Lee Wilkie, 92, loving husband of Lillian Campbell Wilkie.

Family members, in addition to his wife include daughter: Angela Phillips O’Byrne; grandchildren: Charles Michael O’Byrne, Dr. Lauren O’Byrne Azevedo (Justin), Haley O’Byrne Howerton (Neil); great grandchildren: Samantha Lillian Azevedo and Phillip Jackson Howerton; and beloved nephew: Merrill Wilkie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Regena Rector Wilkie; brothers: Ralph, Ray, John, William, J.R., Willard Wilkie; sisters: Blanche Wilkie Parks and Viola Wilkie Parrott.

Bob was a member of the US Navy, retiring as the Senior Chief Personnelman after 23 years of service. He received many outstanding awards and accolades during his military career highlighting his character and performance including 6 Good Conduct Medals and a World War 2 Victory Medal. After he retired from the Navy, he worked with Quality Inn for 26 years retiring as the President of the company. He was honored as the Business Man of the Year and selected as an Honored Member of Who’s Who in US Executives.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
