Roger Johnson

Roger Johnson, aged 75, passed away on September 19, 2024, in Grovetown, GA. Born on April 13, 1948, Roger's vibrant spirit and dedication to service defined his life.

Roger graduated from Talladega High School and furthered his education at Rider University. He honorably served in the Navy for four years, where he was involved in Intelligence, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His professional career was marked by significant contributions to human resources at US Steel and Kendall Corporation, before he transitioned to self-employment, allowing him greater flexibility to engage with his community and personal interests.

A long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Roger's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was deeply involved in his community, notably serving as the head of planning and zoning for eight years. Roger was able to successfully complete one of his large life goals of building a house with motivation from being on the planning and zoning board. He was able to do this in Champions Retreat which tied in with his golfing hobby. His love for golf also played a significant role in his life, providing him not just leisure but also an avenue to connect with friends and associates.

Roger's legacy is cherished and carried on by his loving wife, Lynne, his son, Ryan (and daughter-in-law, Heather), his daughter, Megan, and his grandchildren Laird, Leal, Jonah, Madelyn, Gavin, and Matthew.

There will be a private ceremony at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Parkinson's Support Group at www.parkinson's.org or mailed to PO Box 31, Evans, GA 30809, honoring Roger's courageous battle with the disease.
