Augusta, GA – Ronald Jantz Shannon entered into rest on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Kelly Shannon; children: Kelly Miller (Col Doug Miller [Ret]); Kevin Shannon (Jennifer), Colleen McKinney (Daniel), Megan Jackson (Chris); grandchildren: Sean Miller, Morgan Shannon, Caroline, Christopher and Kathleen Jackson, Anna Claire and Cullen McKinney; brothers: Gordon Shannon, Jr. and Wayne Shannon; sisters: Carol Bohm and Kathie Bucher. He is preceded in death by his parents: Gordon Shannon, Sr. and Hazel Shannon; and his brother: Bruce Shannon.

Ron was born and raised in Shawano, WI. He was an avid athlete and played semi-professional baseball for the Antigo Candies. He loved the Green Bay Packers and a good card game of pinochle. Ron retired with 30 years of military service as a Sergeant Major which included 12 years in the US Air Force and 18 years in the US Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war as well as the Korean conflict. Following his service in the Army he worked for Civil Service at Ft. Gordon and retired after 15 years. He was a long-time member of St. Michaels Catholic Church at Ft. Gordon. His love and devotion to his family defined him above all. Ron is leaving behind a lifetime of memories, numerous laughs and will be missed tremendously.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. David Arnoldt celebrating. A Rosary will be held Thursday, March 3, at 5:30 PM. The family will receive friends following the Rosary, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
