Ronald Simpson
Augusta, GA – Mr. Ronald Milton Simpson, 79, loving husband to Karen R.E. (Pollari) Simpson 77. They had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 27th. Mr. Simpson entered into rest on February 4th at home, surrounded by his family.
Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mr. Simpson moved with his parents to California, living in Whittier, El Centro, and San Diego. Early in his working career, Mr. Simpson exercised his entrepreneurial spirit as co-owner of Simpson & Horton and then owner of Kearny Air and Sheet Metal. For a time in the mid-1970’s, during a lull in the construction industry and at the suggestion of his son Glenn, Mr. Simpson started a sucessful aluminum skateboard business. A retired project manager/project engineer, he worked for over 35 years in the nuclear industry, the last 25 plus years at Savanah River Site. His career allowed him to live in various parts of the country, eventually settling in Augusta, Georgia.
Always athletic, he played sports in highschool and was a college quarterback at University of Redlands. A man who truly appreciated the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, kayaking and canoeing as well as many other activities. Mr. Simpson always looked forward to his next adventure, or trip and discovery of new places, with his wife and family. “Let’s Go!” was his motto. Always putting his family first, Mr. Simpson was a life-teacher, supporter and a forgiver who was generous with his time and talents, willing to help anyone in need. A loving and dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, his faith in God and family while serving others was unconditional. Mr. Simpson also served as a deacon at National Hills Baptist Church in Augusta, GA and his wife, Karen played the piano and organ for the congregation from 1991 to 2009.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his children: Lori Hamm and husband Steve, Glenn Simpson, Michael Simpson, Jennifer Simpson, Teri Richardson and husband Adam; grandchildren: Garrett Haynie, Jaclyn Haynie, Heather Grace, Chamonix Simpson, Parker Simpson, Skyler Victoria Green, Finn Richardson and Elle Richardson; great grandchild: Blake Grace; sister: Patti Munoz; nieces and nephews: Lisa Munoz, Christopher Munoz, and Laura Munoz. He is preceded in death by his parents, F. Howard and Ela (Rose/Foster) Simpson, and brother, Kenny Simpson.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday February 10, 2018 at National Hills Baptist Church, 2725 Washington Road, Augusta, Ga. 30909 with Rev. Kevin Steele officiating.
