Augusta, GA – Mrs. Rose McCranie Kitchen, 88, wife of Dr. Albert B. Kitchen, Jr. PhD, entered into rest Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Golden Living Center on Anthony Rd.
Born in Macon, GA, Mrs. Kitchen moved to Augusta with her 1st husband, William H. (Mac) McCranie and worked as the bookkeeper for Bentley Office Machines. Later, she was employed as the bookkeeper for the Hull Law firm of Augusta.
Mrs. Kitchen is survived by her husband: two sons, Dr. W. Morgan McCranie, MD (Dianne) of Costa Rica and Paul M. McCranie of California; one grandson Will McCranie (Claire) of New York City, NY and one sister: Mary Bentley (Albert) of Martinez.
In addition Mrs. Kitchen is survived by Dr. Kitchen’s family: one daughter, Karen Wetherell (Robert) of Midland, GA, one son, Albert B. Kitchen III (Peggy) of Augusta. four grandchildren: Lael Dye (Nick) of Tucker, GA; Albert B. Kitchen IV (Lindsey) of Grovetown, Ryan Wetherell (Alisha) of Tallahassee, Daniel Wetherell of Midland, GA., two great grand children: Lucy Dye of Tucker, GA and Preston T. Wetherell of Tallahassee.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation at PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061 or http://www.macular.org or Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church at 3551 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30909-6500.
