Rositsa Lawrence, age 79, loving mother of Almira Vazdarjanova and grandmother of Arendil, Galadra and Tiernan Plummer, passed on peacefully from heart failure on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2022.
Rossy was born on June 2nd, 1942 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, to Nikola and Ivanka Semerdjiev. She received her Mechanical Engineering degree from Sofia Technical University in 1965 and conducted post-graduate research in engineering for the food industry which resulted in a patent for a new kind of food processing equipment. She continued on to get another Master’s degree in teaching and taught at the Technical College of Plovdiv. After moving to the US, she married Dale Lawrence until his passing in 2005.
Rossy has been an active and beloved member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Augusta since 2005. She is known to many for her compassionate spirit, passion for life and her varied contributions to the church. She’s preceded in death by her parents, her brother Peter Semerdjiev and husband Dale Lawrence. She’s survived by her daughter Almira, son-in-law Thane Plummer, three grandchildren: Arendil, Galadra and Tiernan Plummer, her brother George and his wife Anna Semerdjiev.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, November 4, 2022 at 3:00 P.M., with Fr. Vasile Bitere officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
