Roy Beeman “Benny” Price, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Mr. Roy Beeman “Benny” Price, Jr., 66, husband of Mrs. Katherine Howerdd Price, entered into rest Thursday, January 7, 2016, after a valiant fight with melanoma.Benny was born in Statesboro, GA on February 1, 1949 to Roy Beeman Price Sr. and the late Mary Hilda Price.
Benny lived most of his life in Augusta and graduated from Butler High School where he was the star quarterback. Benny attended the University of Georgia and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, before being drafted by the Marines.
After serving in the Marine Reserves, he began his career at C&S Bank.
In 1983 after they got married, Benny and Katherine moved to North Georgia to raise cattle until they started a family. He then moved into another career in sales with Bailey Controls, Valve and Automation Inc. and retired from PMV/
FlowServe Inc. as the Eastern Regional Manager.
Benny is survived by his wife Katherine, their sons: Roy Beeman “Tripp” Price III (30) and Howerdd Miller Price (25); His father Roy Beeman Price, Sr.’s wife Sevim and her 4 children and their families. Additionally, father and mother-in-law: Eugene and Martha Howerdd, Jr.; brothers-in-law: Eugene M. “Trey” Howerdd, III and John Christopher Howerdd, sisters-in-law: Lisa Howerdd Stargel, Maura Howerdd Burden, Lauren Howerdd, their families and 8 nieces and nephews.
Benny was a member of Country Club of Sapphire Valley, Augusta Country Club and the Augusta Golf Association. Benny will be remembered for his love of golf, his finesse during a card game, his wicked sense of humor who could tell a joke like no other. He was a devoted husband and father who lived life to the fullest.
Benny did not fight his battle with cancer alone. The family would like to thank and hold in great esteem his medical teams at Emory in Atlanta and here in Augusta, especially: Dr. George Pursley, Dr. John Hudson, Dr. John Stewart, Dr. John Vender, Dr. Gary Williamson, and Dr. David Lawson.

A memorial service will be Monday, January 11, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Gerald Ragan officiating. The family would like to receive close friends and family, following the service in the Narthax to celebrate Benny’s life. Honorary pallbearers will be the Members of the Augusta Golf Association.
