Mr. Rudolph Eugene Powell

Augusta, GA – Mr. Rudolph Eugene Powell, 78, entered into rest Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Kentwood. He was the husband of 35 years of the late Betty Griffin Powell.
Mr. Powell was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean Era. Gene retired in 1998 after 43 years from The Augusta Chronicle-Herald as Composing Room Supervisor. He was a member of Central Christian Church where he had served as a deacon.
Family members include daughters: Anne Coyle and husband Bruce of Marietta, GA, Nancy G. Powell of Augusta, Sue Ellen Powell of Bridgeport, CT; grandchildren: Benjamin Coyle of Dallas, GA, Andrew Coyle and wife Anne of Fairbanks, AK, Liza Powell of Bridgeport, CT; and great-granddaughter, Zoe Coyle of Dallas, GA.
The family will receive friends today, Friday, December 2, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet and Son. Interment will be private.
