Mrs. Ruth E. Scott

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Ruth Scott peacefully went to her Lord on December 24, 2017 with loved ones by her side. Her husband of 45 years, J. Robert “Bob” Scott, predeceased her in 1988.
Ruth was raised on a farm in Boone, Iowa, one of 11 children, and earned her nursing degree at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Bob’s job moved them around before they made Augusta their hometown in 1962.
Her interests were many. Ruth’s focus was raising the children and volunteering in the community. She was involved in setting up the library at the new A. Brian Merry School and a volunteer for over 20 years in the gift shop at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren kept her involved in their milestone occasions. She relished their visits and they loved being part of four living generations.
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church has been the cornerstone of her faith, friends and activities for over 50 years. Ruth was a baptized and confirmed Lutheran. She always had the Lord by her side.
Her friends are true and caring and have been there for her. She kept in touch despite health setbacks and had words of encouragement for their challenges. To know Ruth is to know that the cardinals, hummingbirds and flowers are shedding a tear for her.
Missing her are children: Linda Lippert (Keith), Sonja Colt (Tim) and John Scott. She was a beloved GaGa to Scott and Amy Lippert, Laura and Eric Jenson, Cathy and Mike Muraco and two great grandchildren: Emma, Katie, Andrew, Molly and Caroline.
The family is grateful for her caregivers over the years, especially Chasiti, Janice and Mary who gave unending compassionate care.
Visitation will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 402 Aumond Road, 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 28, 2017. The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Roger Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Marshalk, William Key, Jon Dunker, Cliff Poppell, Ken Kutlik and Michael Bitetti.
